Crosby is considered by many to be the benchmark or 'standard' in the industry. It is, among other things, often seen in American contracts that include something about lifting gear that it says: "Crosby Only" or "Crosby or Equal."
The products are also manufactured with some of the highest safety factors within the various categories. The majority of the products are heat-treated and they can therefore withstand deformation when overloaded - thereby giving the user a final warning before the product gives up - when it is far above its normal working load limit (WLL).
