A wire hoist can be used for both pulling and securing. If you use a wire hoist for lifting - please note that not all types are approved for this. How do you find out if a wire hoist can be used for lifting? It is very simple. If a WLL (Work Load Limit) is indicated on the product, you can safely use it for both lifting and pulling. If only one capacity is specified, the wire hoist must NOT be used for lifting. Some variants, e.g. Tirfor from Tractel has the advantage that an unlimited amount of steel wire can be used. Wire hoists of this type are also equipped with a break pin that gives 25% more than the capacity of the wire hoist. The break pin can be easily replaced and is also sold separately. Also remember that wire hoists, like all other lifting equipment, must be inspected at least every 12 months.
