Ole Sylvester started his business buying and selling machines over 20 years ago. He mainly focuses on excavators and loaders, but sometimes other types of machines come in. After many years in the industry, Ole Sylvester has a large network, and the machines are not allowed to stand for long in the newly built facility in Kolding before they are passed on to a new owner.
A jib crane in brand new facilities
In 2024, the company moved to brand new facillity in Kolding, and during construction it was decided to upgrade to a crane so that the right support could be incorporated into the construction from the start. ‘We can't do without a crane in the next project, so we have to consider it from the start,’ says Ole Sylvester.
With 15 tonnes of concrete as support, the crane was set up in the summer of 2024, as soon as the facility were ready.
An upgrade for heavy lifting
Before the move, the heavy lifting was done with forklifts, and although that solution worked, Ole Sylvester was looking for a more versatile and flexible solution. In collaboration with Fyns Kran Udstyr, the choice fell on a 360-degree pillar jib crane with a WLL of 2500kg from Comege. The 4 metre height and 4.5 metre outreach means that O. Sylvester can easily drive machines and various machine parts and hoist them up to suit the working height.
The 4 metre height was necessary to have room to lift a tall machine, and with limited space in the workshop, the jib crane was the perfect solution. Ole Sylvester also considered an overhead crane for the workshop, but the Comege jib crane was chosen as it best suited the company's needs. ‘Maybe a 2.5T crane is overkill, but now we can do pretty much everything here,’ he says.
Improved efficiency and working environment
The jib crane has improved efficiency in the company as it now only requires one person to perform a lift, unlike before. At the same time, the safety of each lift has been improved and the working environment has also taken a turn for the better with the jib crane in place.
