The Danish production company Welcon A/S has been manufacturing steel structures for over 50 years. Today, the main focus of production is towers for wind turbines. The production area at Welcon covers over 70,000 m2, of which they are expanding with a further 30,000 m2 of buildings, as well as an extra 45,000 m2 of storage space. In addition to an expansion of production capacity, Welcon also gets the opportunity to produce floating foundations for the company Stiesdal Offshore. Welcon is already the largest manufacturer of towers for offshore wind turbines and has supplied 50% of all towers in use offshore.

A supplier for everyday needs and large projects
At Welcon, you don't just buy lifting equipment in the traditional sense - here you are also a diligent user of the built-in webshop at fyns-kran.dk, where the company can order a large selection of the products that are used every day in the company. Maintenance Assistant Lene Würtz tells; "We primarily use the webshop function to order products easily and quickly, e.g. round sling, shackles, lifting clamps etc. I order from many different suppliers, some places it is easier than others, but here it is easy I must say."
When the company needs extra resources in connection with larger projects, they instead draw on the associated consultant and the internal coordinator at Fyns Kran Udstyr. Niels Peter tells what he sees as the most important requirements for a supplier: "The possibility of quick contact, assistance and delivery and a professional partner to do service and maintenance on our things. It is important that the equipment is not only inspected in accordance with the law, but also for stability and safety so that our employees have a safe workplace.”
Easy export of data in EasyCert is essential
At Welcon, EasyCert, which is Fyns Kran Udstyr's online certificate program, is also widely used in connection with the annual statutory inspection. Unlike many other customers, EasyCert's primary purpose is not to present documentation easily and quickly, but instead to act as a tool for exporting documentation. As Maintenance assistant Lene Würtz says: "It is a big advantage for us that it is easy to extract data. We have our own system to store certificates and a whole lot of other documentation in connection with e.g. audit, and therefore it is important that we can retrieve data from EasyCert easily and quickly, after which we can save it and store it in our own database. At the same time, it helps to provide increased security for us.”
Lene Würtz continues: "I have found my own system for extracting data in connection with the service technicians from Fyns Kran Udstyr being here. The interaction works really well with EasyCert giving each piece of equipment a unique ID - at the same time we can have the ID number from our own system applied directly in a separate field in EasyCert - when the marking is done, both numbers appear on the tag."

It is important for Welcon to be a collaborative partner in the green transition. "We are looking forward to contributing even more to the green transition in the future, as we are able to expand and increase the production possibilities with larger diameter pipes, as well as the possibility to manufacture the floating foundations of the future." concludes Niels Peter.
