Processing with a focus on the working environment
WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik A/S previously had a challenge in their handling of special snow plow blades, because they are very large, heavy and difficult to maneuver around. The challenge meant that Jesper Hansen, warehouse and logistics manager at WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik, had to manually handle the large and heavy products. As he states: "We had major challenges when we had to process snow plow blades, which are large, heavy and unmanageable." Therefore, the challenge for WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik A/S was to find a solution for handling the heavy items, improve the working environment and create better ergonomic conditions to look after their skilled employees.

The company not only processes snow plow blades; aWILLBRANDT Gummiteknik A/S is a specialists in rubber, polyurethane and elastomer products. They supply compensators as well as vibration and shock-absorbing solutions for the removal or reduction of vibrations and structural noise, reduction of vibrations from motors, pumps and machines as well as reduction of shock. WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik in Denmark was founded in 1994 and is a subsidiary of the more than 125-year-old parent company WILLBRANDT KG in Hamburg - in 2019 they therefore celebrated their 25th anniversary, so it is a seasoned player in the industry. The company has customers throughout the Nordic region, including in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik's customers include companies within industry, rail, wind and the maritime sector. The company has experienced constant growth and is therefore expanding – they have bought a plot of land and are building an office and warehouse on Grønlandsgade in Haslev.
Collaboration created the perfect solution
Collaboration created a perfect solution Before WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik started the process with a new crane solution, they had a hold of several suppliers, and the final choice fell on Fyns Kran Udstyr. After this, a sales consultant came by, and in collaboration with WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik, he defined final wishes and needs and then presented and discussed various options. The sales consultant was also given a piece of rubber from a snow plow blade so that he could have it tested at Fyns Kran Udstyr's supplier that the crane system could use a vacuum on this type of item - this is done to be sure that the crane system can handle the task in question at the customer's place. The feedback was positive, so the process continued with the selected crane type, which was an easily movable jib crane in aluminum and a Schmalz VacuMaster Basic vacuum lifting beam. Vacuum lifting beam is mounted in the crane with Yale CPVF electric hoist with 2 speeds.
It was a collaboration between Fyns Kran Udstyr's sales consultant and Jesper Hansen, to find solutions for the crane that could meet all requirements and wishes for the new crane at WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik. And the final solution fits perfectly, it is functional and fulfills all our requirements and wishes – as Jesper Hansen happily states; "It fully meets the requirements and wishes that we had - and more, even; it just works” The installation of the crane went straight by the book – the parts were sent to the company in good time, the installation team arrived at the agreed time and set up the crane solution, and then it just worked. In connection with the montage, Jesper Hansen states; "I think it was perfectly fine - it went like clockwork."
Crane solution make the working day easier – literally
The light Schmalz aluminum crane is usually used either with the vacuum lifting beam or lifting magnet, but Jesper Hansen uses both. He uses the vacuum solution when moving the large and heavy snow plow blades, and for the large bushings he uses the magnet. According to himself; “I don't have to fight with removing nets or anything; it is actually very nice.” Jesper Hansen tells further; "Things we had before, which were perhaps a bit heavy, where you thought I could handle that - I lifted it with manually. I don't do that at all today - now it is driven to the crane and lifted with it." So in addition to having made the working day easier, literally, the working environment and ergonomics have also improved, as the new crane solution not only lifts heavy objects, it also makes you want to choose the correct ergonomic solution rather than lifting with your hands, which can be harmful to, among other things, back and shoulder. It is quite clear from Jesper Hansen that he is extremely satisfied with the solution that has been installed at WILLBRANDT Gummiteknik.
